How did you first hear about Thornton & Lowe?

Our business have been using Thornton and Lowe in some capacity since 2014, we initially made contact through our Director, Grace McGrath. Grace was looking for a solution to outsource our bid management process.

What were you looking for in a solution?

We were initially looking for help in improving the quality of our bid submissions; we’d been submitting our own bids for a number of years and as the criteria shifted we found it more difficult to meet all of the criteria on the quality aspect. We looked at employing a Bid Writer and Bid Coordinator directly but this did not give us the option to scale with demand; something that we can do with Thornton & Lowe.

What made our solution stand out from the others that you researched?

Thornton & Lowe’s solution to our needs was to offer a Bid Success Programme, an outsourced bid management solution that allows us to scale their bid team to meet our demand. This way, we are not payrolling 1-3 members of staff in full-time positions even when the demand for bidding is low.

Looking back over the years we’ve worked together, Thornton & Lowe have always been on hand to deal with our requests quickly and efficiently. Having a large bank of material to reference is also a huge benefit now, it allows Maria to help us respond to opportunities extremely quickly.

What have you been most impressed with?

The resources that are available through Thornton & Lowe and the speed at which the team works to process our bids. With the help of Maria and the wider team, we’ve now built up a knowledge bank of template responses that we can quickly refer to on new projects, saving a huge amount of time for us.

We’ve also switched to Thornton & Lowe’s Search & Selection service, where they monitor and update us on a monthly basis with live and upcoming bid opportunities. This has saved our team a lot of time that was previously spent browsing through various portals, managing our resources and general bid admin.

We currently work on 7-8 bids per year through Thornton & Lowe and they have significantly improved our bid quality and overall bid management.
