The biggest investment in a generation sees more than 2000 new council houses to be built in North Lanarkshire

Sep 27, 2016

North Lanarkshire Council has announced it is to build 2000 new council houses at a generation-high investment of £159millionuntitled

This new phase of investment brings the total number of council houses to be built in the area over the next 10 years to 1800, and 2150 across the whole programme. As Scotland’s biggest council landlord, housing has become a key priority for North Lanarkshire. With 633 units of the current programme already being constructed, the next phase will bring much needed resources to the area for local residents. The housing quality has been highly praised as energy-efficient, adaptable and accessible, taking into account the needs of the end user. Councillor Barry McCulloch, the convener of housing and social work services, said: “This is a massive investment for the people of North Lanarkshire and I’m delighted we will be able to deliver 1800 new houses by 2026.” This investment will present substantial contract and supply chain opportunities across several sectors. Competition for contracts will be fierce, therefore it is essential to submit a clear, well-structured bid that covers all of the necessary requirements. Read the full article here.
