INTENSE COMPETITION PREDICTED AS HINKLEY POINT C APPROVED
After months of speculation, the UK government has given the go-ahead for a new nuclear power station to be built at Hinkley Point C by 2025. This project has been financed in part by both French energy company EDF and Chinese State-backed CGN.
Hinkley Point C will present substantial contract and supply chain opportunities across several sectors. Competition will no doubt be fierce to participate in this landmark construction, which aims to produce 7% of the UK’s electricity once completed in 2025.
Hinkley Point C is a vital aspect in achieving the government’s renewed climate change policies.
Whilst surrounded by intense speculation, the government go-ahead means the Hinkley Point C project can now move forward and look to recruit crucial businesses to aid the construction process. With an estimated provision of 25,000 jobs across the course of the build, this project is set to become the largest of its kind in Europe, according to EDF.
